Hi all. I’m a professional mix engineer and I use Sennheiser HD600 for a mix reference along with some decent nearfields ( Neumann, Kali etc ). I saw them in a few mastering houses and was recommended them buy a good mastering engineer. Overall I like them and I’m not unhappy with them but I find the low end a bit vague and they seem to have a hole in the sub 40hz range. Are there any suggestions for similarly detailed and neutral headphones with a better bass response? I’ve heard that the Sony MDR MV1’s go very low but I haven’t heard them. Budget is ideally under £400

You can look at Amir's review hear where it shows a lack of response below 100 hz. Then look at other reviews to see what has good response and lower response more or less matching the Harman curve down there.

The HD620 seems to fix the low end.

The AKG 371 looks like a good closed back option.

If your budget extends to $1000 this might be another good choice.

Under 400 quid I haven't seen anything, but my LCD-XCs have the cleanest bass I've ever heard, and no problem with extension or output if you EQ them a bit. They go below 20hz and don't get upset. Overall response is pretty neutral. To that end you might want to look at some planars.
