Has anybody compared the Aegir to a pair of Gjallarhorns run as monoblocks? The Gjallarhorns are $200 cheaper, and have 30 watts compared to the Aegir’s 20 watts. The Aegir is a “Continuity” amp, while the Gjallarhorn is “Continuity S”. How much is that going to affect the sound?

Afraid to ask what you mean by "compared" :)

The Aegir is class-A, meaning it doubles as a space heater for no justifiable reason.

Doubt there's any audible difference between the two below the point of clipping.

Both don't have any output worth mentioning, so if you don't use them in a desktop setup, have a tiny listening room, use highly sensitive speakers or a combo of these things, they'll probably run out of steam fast.

With so little power they seem only useful for insensitive headphones or driving an actual horn in an active speaker. I wonder what Schitt was thinking.

For 400$ U could buy a denon PMA 600ne that has 45 watts , a DAC, Streaming and other stuff. And built quality will probably run circles around the schiit
