(FUN) Equipment You Wished You Had But Never Will

Sam Adams reminded me of something I wished I had, but I'm not sure I really do.

One of these could come in handy. I’m really taking the “Leave no Trace behind” concept to heart in my everyday life. ;)

Back 12 years ago in my bike workshop/mechanic days I had the pleasure of building a seasons worth of carbon rimmed/Chris King wheels for a mate & his GF (4 sets) over a weekend and I borrowed a P&K Lie wheel building truing stand from a mates workshop, a thing of beauty and absolute micrometer precision in use, certainly a massive step up over my Park Tools stand that had served me well for 15 years but then again my Park Tools stand didn’t cost £2500+.

I also borrowed the P&K Lie Spoke Tension Meter which is essential for building with carbon rims if you’re building to specific tension for different disciplines such as an all mountain wheelset and a lighter trail wheelset as I was, only another £500 for the tension meter

I wanted both at the time (stil do) , but I could only afford the P&K Lie Spoke Wrench Set at an affordable £90, I still got a frisson of excitement and pleasure from daily use In the shop though.

Yeah, I’ve always had a thing for well made and functional tools, whether that be Snap On chests/units/tools as I was a mechanic to trade originally before going back to Uni or Bicycle tools which I’ve collected since the very early 90’s, anyone remember the Original CoolTool from that era?, I always lusted after the ultra rare titanium version but could never afford it.

Needless to say in my current condition with spms I’d never get use out of such equipment like the P&K lie stand but I still want it.

:)

Man, you could make serious money around here clearing blackberries and other bushes around here. But I wonder how well it does if an old abandoned lawn mower is under all that brush!!!

I've been watching some wood turning videos on youtube, so was thinking a proper lathe could be interesting....

A Sherp would be nice for the daily commute:

Always wanted one of these but nearly impossible to find good fonts unless someone dies.
