Based on the review of this amp I bought one and gave it a try. I was very pleased with the audible results, and measured 23vrms @ 8ohms = 67w. Higher drive causes the clip light to illuminate and distortion becomes obvious.

Wanting more power I got another identical amp, intending to bridge them for 200w/channel stereo use. I wired in accordance with p20 of the manual, and results are terrible. The clip light comes on at 6vrms, and distortion is audible throughout. Here's the bridging instructions from the manual. They aren't logical to me at all, but I absolutely wired it this way.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Garry

Are you using balanced or unbalanced input? Which input level? What did you set the Attenuation pots to? If they are turned down very far, you may overdrive the input circuitry before the output has reached full power.

The wiring instructions actually seem perfectly logical to me. Ch1 gets a noninverted signal, Ch2 gets an inverted signal, and the speakers go between Ch1 + and Ch2 +. That's textbook BTL.

The one potential snag I can see in the instructions is that they're telling you to turn the levels all the way down but not to bring them back up before equalizing them.

And make sure you didn't buy a 1002-70V or 1002-100V, on the remote chance that's the issue.
