Hi.
The tweeter of one speaker (powered one with and all I/O) makes crackling noise when is playing bass rich sound around 100Hz and under. I have attached a sample of it. Its not a overload of the speaker because it is heard at low volumes and does not intensify when I turn volume up (instead it becomes just inaudible when the sound coming from the speaker gets louder and simply hides this noise) and also other speaker plays the same sound with no issues. I discovered that when I blow with my mouth into the tweeter or gently touch, rub the membrane of the tweeter this crackling sound disappear but only for a moment - after a while it comes back and continues.

I checked if the audio cables (both balanced) are crossing powered cables but no. I bypassed my audio interface by connecting speakers straight from my laptop output to the RCA input on Edifier and also tried AUX in - all produce this noise.

Anybody had similar issue?

I attach a link for the sound - unprocessed and unedited recording of that crackling sound captured from a very close distance (around 2 inches from tweeter) with condenser microphone (At2020). The sound I played and recorded is a sample of bass guitar and played at a moderate volume level. I bough these speakers like two months ago and this issue is from one month.

To me, that sounds like a mechanical resonance. Something is loose and vibrating with the sound. It could be as simple as a loose screw fixing the tweeter in place (if there are any) or other imperfect fixing of the tweeter. Or it could be that the tweeter itself is faulty or broken.

I'd be returning them under warranty in any case.

Maybe I should not play on my bass through them? It sound great and I don't play loud - just to practice in my room - not louder than a conversation level, but maybe its already too much for them? I plug bass into my audio interface >> Edifiers . But this is the same when I work on music and edit and mix recorded bass guitar - its same signal going though the speakers, right?

Sounds like a rubbing voice coil on one tweeter. This can be a manufacturing defect or it could be burnt from misuse. Either way you'll need the manufacturers assistance to resolve it.
