Dirac Live standalone for PC and Mac

A heads-up :)
Can DLBC be used to make and present a single channel speaker to Windows out of a speaker and subwoofer? Right now I use a 7.1 sound card in a 5.1 setup and copy the side channels into the rear channels using EAPO. The rear channels feed a subwoofer for each side channel and using crossovers in EAPO I get full-range side channels. I then direct DL to room correct my 5.1 setup. Everything works as intended but it's always nice to simplify the software chain.

Was curious if Denon 3800/4800 would have DLBC but didn’t see. I am still on a quest to find the simplest solution for 2.4 stereo and haven’t found it yet.

Any day now. People are reporting end of month, to get the firmware update.

I hope somebody can solve one doubt Dirac DLBC, the PC version. When you have a multichannel setup (2.1, 4.1, etc.), do you need one SW for the LFE channel + another SW for the BM? In the "Channels configuration", it seems that Bass Management ("Subwoofer") and LFE can't be directed to the same "Output"...
Are you referring to the setting in the Dirac live processor? Could be different on PC but on MAC for my 2.3 system under custom channel config I run stereo then click add subwoofer x 3. If I recall when setting it up I clicked the "custom" button at the top right of the processor and applied settings from there. Hope this helps.

I was having routing issues and this thread got me up and running.

I have some questions about upgrading the Minidsp Flex ...

you need to buy the standard DL stereo, right?
The 200 USD for the DL license is only at purchase time, after that you'll pay the "normal" 350 USD (now with 30% free)?
I tried to run the upgrade from the minidsp console, but the step 1 to buy the license failed ... somebody tried the same?

The Dirac Live system works by logging in with your credentials and verifying the license associated with the account (online licensing). There is no problem using it on different PCs at different times (I use my license on at least 2 PCs currently, one at a time).
The license is also transferable between users in case of resale (verified with Dirac customer service). If you are interested I am selling my Studio / Stereo Version. ;)
So I can buy Dirac Live Room Correction Suite for desktop then later buy a dirac ready avr (that needs dirac to be purchased separately)? The benefit is being able to use the Dirac Live Room Correction Suite for desktop on different computer and it can even be transferred between users while a dirac license purchased directly for a dirac ready avr is tied to the avr? So if sell the avr, the license gets passed down to purchaser? (I guess I will have to add the price of the dirac license when setting the selling price of the avr). But if I buy Dirac Live Room Correction Suite for desktop, will it be more complicated to use then purchasing the license directly to a dirac ready avr? (sorry I am a complete novice. I only have experience with built in audessey or ypao room correction from avr). Is it likely that Dirac ART will come to the standalone desktop dirac? I would like to slowly upgrade to DLBC and ART.

Dirac Room Correction suite = any PC or Mac as the source one at a time. This license is not compatible with AVR's, that would be a separate purchase. You're correct, DLRCS does have a transferable license and the license on the AVR is tied to that unit. Currently, DLBC is offered as an add-on in the room correction suite but no talks of ART yet.

Just installed Dirac Live on my windows 11 pro.
I don't have the Virtual Audio Device. Just a device named "Remote Audio"
How can I get it installed?

Thanks. Yes I read the manual. Not much there.
Maybe it's because I use a Matrix Audio Element H USB card.
But I checked the drivers and it looks okay,

I am currently listening to music in a 2.2 configuration through a Denon x3300w using Audyssey xt32.
I want to try Dirac Live and DLBC as I am considering buying an amp/streamer for listening to music but do not want to forgo room correction.
So my idea is to get a trial of both Dirac products to see if I like it.
For this I plan to install Dirac on my laptop and connect to the AVR with HDMI.
My first question (for now) is what settings should I have on the AVR? Obviously I would turn Audyssey off, but I'm not sure what speaker settings to use on the avr. They are currently set to small, do I change them to large? Do I tell the avr there are 2 subwoofers? If I do the avr will want to set a crossover but this is now Diracs decision, if I don't then I assume no signal will be output to the subs?
It's all a bit confusing to be honest so any advice will be appreciated.

Yes. Avoid having the AVR do any processing.
Do I tell the avr there are 2 subwoofers?
No. It will create 2 SW channels from the main Sub/LFE feed. However, unless your AVR has the option for dealing with an input that already has 2 sub channels (highly unlikely), it is unclear what it will do with the 2nd SW channel.

Probably not to the 2nd sub.

@Mattknz You can also remap subwoofer signals to other HDMI channels. i.e don't use LFE, use L and R surrounds or backs for subs and connect your subs to those outputs (and disconnect speakers). This way boths subs work and calibrate separately. This requires some tinkering with Dirac output settings and those are not very logical, if I recall correctly...

Hi everyone, I just want to share my experience. I recently purchased Dirac Live RCS with DLBC for multi Sub on black friday (great deal 30% off). What I can say is that the sound improved a lot (Day & Night). Before I was using Sound ID Multichannel Room Calibration software. My setup in Dirac processor is custom as 9.8.4. Im running DLRCS in Windows 11. My audio interface is a Presonus Quantum 4848 Thunderbolt 2 interface (32in/32out balanced channels) with very low latency. I definitely recommend it over other room correction softwares. Almost forget the sample rate, im using it at 192KHz. For mic calibration I used Earthworks M30 with Roland Octa-capture at 96KHz. I hope they release ART add on soon .

Hello everybody

I expect to buy Dirac Live for Mac in the near future. But before this I have some concerns I would like to have clarified. Hopefully you won't mind helping me out here.

As I understand it, you need to install a sound control app of some kind in order to apply the effects and filters of Dirac Live. For example SoundSource app.

I contacted Rogue Amoeba/SoundSource support with regard to the ability to stream music via WiFi from a Mac with Dirac Live filters applied to a stereo receiver. Sadly they don’t offer the functionality at the current time.

Is there an alternative to SoundSource, perhaps creating a virtual audio card, that would allow me to stream music from my Mac via WiFi to a stereo receiver connected to the WiFi with Dirac room correction, etc. applied? This would free up my Mac for other uses instead of having it sitting next to the stereo receiver while listening to music with the filters applied (I'd prefer not having to connect the laptop to the receiver using USB as the wire would be dragged halfway across my living room and because the cable would have to be longer than advisable).

I am using a MacBook Pro m2 (2023) with macOS Sonoma (14.2.1).

Thank you! :)

Soundsource should work just fine. You can just load Dirac live as a UA plugin.

Apparently you can't add filters to music you decide to stream over WiFi using SoundSource.

But how about "Dirac Live Processor"? Can't I just use that in order to avoid having to use a sound control app?

It should work fine for AirPlay.

Other streaming stuff obviously not, because it has nothing to do with the MacOS sound subsystem.

Ah, great then. Must've asked SoundSource support the wrong question then.

SoundSource responded along the lines of "SoundSource does not currently support any form of WiFi audio streaming". But I suppose you could consider Airplay come into play once SoundSource has done its magic with Dirac.
