Hello Folks, I am in the process of trying out several cartridges for the 1200G and it’s stock tonearm. I am getting some good results with the Denon 103 using a cheap unbranded Technics headshell plus added mass. In this trial I have added 10x air rifle lead shot on top of headshell using double sided tape to hold the shot in place. Along with this I have added the heavier aux weight to the back end of the tonearm (you get the choice two with the 1200G, small or big). I have looked back at various postings on this forum regarding the Denon 103 & there is some good info from a member (Thorsten) from about 2022-23 period on set up for this cartridge. One of the important suggestions made was to use the nylon washers that come with the cartridge kit. I took a look into this but firstly don’t remember seeing any
nylon washers in the mounting screws/bolts accessories you get with purchase - I take it they must be quite a large diameter due to the top of the cartridges side having a square cut out, I have the usual nylon bolt washers from other cartridges which just fit under the cartridge bolt head and adds a bit of protection to the headshell when tightening headshell bolts. These nylon washers are too small and just fall into the so called top cut out serving no purpose with decoupling the cartridge from headshell.

Am I missing something?

That’s not the purpose of the washers.
Correct. I think.

Though the ref. previous posts mentioned know how to work them between cartridge & headshell and perhaps take the
Denon 103 to a higher playback level. I’ve got a great musical presentation without using the nylon washers, so I’m intrigued if it goes beyond what I am getting.

I shall look forward to any feedback from this forum.

Regards, Ed
