Dedicated CD player VS. internal computer CD player

You have now received opinions and solutions from several technically experienced users, each with at least 20-30 years of experience. You don't have to listen to it and the fun lies in having your own experiences.
What I would do first is find some good reviews on the Sony unit, especially the app ecosystem and how well DLNA is supported. These are the two main things that will possibly save you an extra box. Also note that any new TV will come equipped with an app ecosystem that is superior to the DB players and will also offer way longer support for it. You can connect the TV optically to the RME as well. All in all, both a HTPC as well as an all in one disc player are bit of a compromise, but I think the player is generally a better one. But if you already have a fairly recent smartTV, you can just buy a cheaper DB player. You’ll still only have one box :)

I have a Cambridge CXC V2 in my living room system. I create playlists with my computer, burn them to CD (AIFF, 16 bits, 44.1 kHz).
They sound fine. I need to compare it to my computer at some point with JRiver (used to use Audirvana).
I do enjoy the physical media.

I'll put this out there: I have a Yamaha BDA-1060 Blu-Ray player (part of the Advantage line) that offers 'CD Mode'.
Since it is hooked up to my RME ADI-2 DAC FS via coaxial, thought I'd try it tonight. I'm not doing any A-B testing at this point.

It seems to sound ok. I'm listening to it now. I've got more material to spin, so to speak.

I was told a long time ago that DVD players do NOT make good CD spinners. And I've recently read that the Sony UBP-X800 Hi Def player actually makes for a decent transport.

I've recently read a review of Marantz CD 6007 CD player which can also make for very good Red Book spinner if you tie to a decent DAC.

Over at RME, they say bits are bits....the ADI-2 DAC FS will re-clock the incoming data stream. Makes me wonder why spend more....?
