Hello, I know it is an old thread but I guess it's better to dig it and ask here than recreating something similar =)

I have a balanced 2.5mm to L/R 2.5mm balanced cable.

Can I buy two female 2.5mm to 3.5mm male Trrs adapters to connect into my Focal Clear cups safely, using the fiio btr5 balanced output without blowing /damaging anything?

Thanks!

The Focal Clear has 2x a TS connector. Tip = hot, Ring = cold (in case of balanced) and ground in case of SE.

Pinning for the 2.5mm TRRS:
Tip = R cold
Ring next to tip = R hot
Ring next to sleeve = L hot
Sleeve = L cold.

So you will need a special connector that splits TR the correct way.

2.5mm TRRS to 3.5mm TS (Focal):
Tip = R cold to Sleeve 3.5mm Right cup
Ring next to tip = R hot to Tip 3.5mm Right cup
Ring next to sleeve = L hot to Tip 3.5mm Left cup
Sleeve = L cold = to Sleeve 3.5mm Left cup

Maybe some manufacturer has made a 2.5mm TRRS to 2x 3.5mm TS cable splitter but don't think so.
You will need to buy a cable for this I'm afraid.

Thank you very much Frans! I'll buy a new one then.
