Subwoofers tend to be big black cubes that are quite ugly and bulky that our wives hate, but have you ever found a subwoofer that is aesthetically beautiful? Something that has at least an acceptable WAF?
I'll start with a Denon sub in a multi-channel package system, very pleasant even if limited in performance (6.5-inch woofer)

Another vote for SVS tubes. Have 2 of the larger 4000 series and they can move some air with 13.8” driver and 1kw amp. 43cm diameter is also advantage to box design, obviously at expense of height. For smaller rooms the 2000 model could also work well.

Are they 'beautiful' or just not ugly? I guess the 'eye of the beholder' thing applies, because to me they look like large air filters. While not something I'd be ashamed to have people see, they aren't something I'd put on display just for their looks.

I’ve yet to see one.

The coffee table idea is nice, but how would one run cables to such a speaker if it were used as a coffe table?

I like my PC2000 subwoofers because they kind of hide in plain sight. But then again, I tend to think that "beautiful" speakers mostly look gaudy rather than well, beautiful so I guess my tastes don't align with typical audiophile aesthetics. I don't think the larger 4000 blends in in the same way, their size in real life is a lot more imposing and the added front panel doesn't help it stay incognito either. It'd be nice to have XLR in on the smaller sub though!

I use my SVS subs as oversized speaker stands. I think most people would mostly notice my speakers and after that, perhaps their a bit weird looking stands.

I think the first Velodynes, the ULD-18 was a down-firing coffee table with a separate amp and wires to the speaker for drive and motion feedback. It is not practical as a coffee table because of the vibration and the aesthetics of the wires. Someone should make a sub version of the B&W Nautilus, the snail shell.

B&W does have a KEF like sub, the Bowers & Wilkins Dual PV1DB

The Dave Rat Super Duper Sub is better than average in looks
