Apple’s New DAC Patent Promises Flawless Sound Quality

We will see. Apple Music, Apple Lossess codec and Airplay2 haven't lived up to being the best option available. It may turn out this Apple DAC patent has drawbacks as well. We won't know until a working implementation is available.

If you refer to ALAC, while I do not claim it is the "best" option, why isn't it on par with the best? FLAC will have marginally better compression at the highest levels, but ALAC requires less computational effort decoding. Apple Music is also quite good, especially the lossless options for Classical Music.

Curious how this improves already audibly transparent conversion? Perhaps makes it smaller, easier, cheaper...

It seems to be a load balancing technique. This is a solved problem, but the usual issue with solved problems is that often the solution is patented by somebody else. So Apple developed their own solution. I cannot judge how original that is, or whether this is better than other solutions.

Headphonesty text:
"That’s overkill for audio. But, it opens up a world of possibilities in wireless communication. Because of this, we could be looking at the core of future devices that push the limits of 5G and beyond."

Just... what? :D
