I have the same question, specifically to drive a pair of ELAC Reference DBR 62s.

Would be grateful if anyone in the ASR community who has tried this combination could report her/his experience !

I'd rather skip the vu meters and have a more powerful amp....

Noted.

If you know of anyone that tried the combo, I would be grateful for sharing their experience.

Looks like Hypex UcD180 based. So likely identical performance to anything else based on that module.

@Ron Texas wrote elsewhere that he believes it is NC122MP based.

And AP-505 has toroidal power supply, which influences power delivery behavior.

That is why I am looking for any actual feedback from marrying AP-505 with “hard to drive“ speakers, and specifically the ELAC Reference DBR62.

It's an amp, of course it will work with your speakers up to a point. The amp 4 ohm spec isn't particularly exciting, tho.

I'm happy with my living room setup: TEAC NT-505 > Lyngdorf RP-1 > TEAC AP-505 > KEF R700

Really pleasuering design, but in this range of price You may get (without meters) some more powerful amp, based on hypex and purifiy as well (for Scotland don't know a generic vendor, but for EU audiophonics has a lot of offers ;) ).
