Greetings. I have read some of the reviews here and am very impressed with all the technical knowledge. I had an Exogal Comet DAC that I really liked but the applications to run it are no longer available and I detest the remote coupled with a window I can't read because it isn't illuminated and the lettering is tiny. I was set to get a Wyred 4 Sound v-2 (to pair with my W4S integrated) but after reading the excellent review here--no thanks! The Schiit review here steered me away from that also. I did get a Black Ice tube FX DAC for my second system and I like it reasonably well and am using it with an old Creek 4330 Mk 2 integrated that sounds great. So what is a decent DAC for around 2k that will not go obsolete next week? It's really confusing and price doesn't seem to bear much relation to quality. Caveat: I am not an audio snob and don't believe in extravagant cables and gimmicks, I just want a good DAC to pair with the W4S integrated and my Larsen 6.2 speakers and then just listen to the music. Recent experiences have taught me the audio business is pretty suspect and there is a lot of snake oil out there. I was impressed with Benchmark and wonder if that is the direction to take. Many thanks, rt
