People that think with time travel you could change the future(the now) usually mix that up with many worlds. Couse its easy, take a 'now' that you like to alter with traveling back in time? You traveld back and you are a part of the reason that you traveled back.

This is actually covered in H.G. Wells ' "The Time Machine" where the protagonist is concerned that not only could he emerge into a deadly environment, but that the relative motion (the machine is on earth traveling through space, after all) could also be deadly.

I know folks who would go back and make sure Trump doesn't get elected, and others who would go back 8 more years to make sure Obama doesn't get elected. And I'm not even talking about Dubya, or Clinton. Or the failed Austrian landscape painter (appreciate how I got around Godwin ). There might be a couple of movies in this.
