Pretty chunky, that thing. I wouldn't put a veneer on it. It seems better to me as it is, in glossy black finish.

I would add some nice covers or cover rings, to cover the screws of the woofer and tweeter or the whole drivers.

Well that's interesting. The photos are gone. I'd got them from Devore's Facebook where he often posts such images. Anyone have any idea why the photos might disappear? (They are still on the facebook page).

Sounds like he disabled linking to them.

I love that vintage horn speaker

I like the looks of it, too. But the engineer in me thinks the horn should be brought forward an inch or two to avoid obvious edge diffraction.

Brave man, making a wide speaker. I think it looks fine just like it is. Veneer would make it look a bit busy.

If you are looking for input:

I personally really like some wood veneer on a loudspeaker. My favourite style tends to be wood sides, with a different front, like a black surface. I'm not super big on all black speakers myself. But with the right finish, black can look nice too.

As to the examples you've posted, I don't like the wood cap on top. Feels more like an afterthought "We need some wood veneer somewhere, let's place a bit on top" and hence it gives me the impression that the speaker is wearing a toupée

I was trying to do something like this with my speakers but I could not make it work.

I like the combination of wood/veneer and paint myself. That's been my plan with all speakers I've worked on and for instance with the subwoofer below.

However, it's more complicated to do this with a surface that's curving and also get a seamless transition. With the speakers below where this has been done, there's a clear edge (not good in regards to diffraction) or not the same curves to deal with.

Using wood/veneer on the front flat surface (and possibly rear) and paint the curvative sides like the Marten speaker below is another possibility. I'll check what's possible here and the cost of doing it. Much labour work obviously brings up the cost. Appreciate the feedback.
