As a hobby I have been starting to get into wood working; although I can't say I have built anything pretty yet. :)

I am fascinated by wood, and love all of the ways it can be manipulated.

So if you are into wood working, would love to see any projects you have built, and your shop area.

This is my latest instrument - I suppose you can call it woodworking of sorts ;-)

It's a copy of a G*bson Style-O Artist from the early 20th Century. Basically the first archtop guitar. I always wanted one, but the originals are seriously spendy (and are actually not very good guitars) so I decided to make my own ...

Various shelves, consoles, helper steps, plant stands, etc. over the years but nothing recently -- no free time.

no pics, but as a 1994 winter project I wanted to build a bookcase, so I bought a book of plans by the carpenter/cabinet maker featured on This Old House. I only had a small tabletop saw to work with, but it did the job. After I got started the bookcase grew into a 6' high 9' wide entertainment center made of oak and oak veneered plywood with crown and base moldings. The center section held my cabinet mounted 25' TV, Pioneer receiver and CD jukebox, and the 2 side units had adjustable shelves for other gear and books, etc. All stained honey oak and sealed. All 3 sections bolted together to make them easy to move. It really turned out very nice, and I was really proud of it. Ended up giving this to my neighbor when I moved in '05 because my new apt didn't have a single wall long enough to set the thing up. Wish I still had pics

I'm not skilled enough to make things pretty, but I can at least do functional. I'm not a huge fan of wood grain either so I slather everything in paint.

Its full of miniature crenellations along the side and back for cable management. It's also all bolted together and disassembles into pieces I can carry by myself.

Finally finished my custom desk project which I've been working on forever and a half.

Plus a bunch of headphones which aren't pictured.
