I've cursed my VPI 16. Was not helpful.

Cleaning my mold-covered copy of "The Moray Eels Eat the Holy Modal Rounders" gave me an intense headache.

I had to look that up. OMG what an awesome album title!

It immediately made me think of the Monty Python sketch with "My Hovercraft if full of eels" and, of course, a band (Corpse Grinders) has already used it as an album title.

If they're masters they're masters, despite if Tidal screws it up using the stupid codec and getting people to buy gear they didn't need to begin with. Can get masters from other services/sources.....
You can get the same Masters mixes from Tidal, just don't pay for the MQA.

It's even better/worse than that:

Mold on the cover, or Mold on the vinyl?

Mold on the vinyl is more easily cleaned than on the cover!

I have used Enzymatic cleaner, with Vacc Machine, followed by Ultrasonic deep clean - gets most records clean
Disc, horrible black/green stuff. Took three passes. Memorably horrible headache.

Better yet, dump Tidal for supporting MQA and go somewhere else.
I recommend Apple for their extensive multich and Atmos library. ;)

Yes, Apple what a wonderful company. Years ago I got no support for my bricked iPod even though they admitted buffering problems. I only do Stereo, No need for atmos or multichannel. Never been to see a show that had speakers behind me. I believe the same guy that designed the MQA algorithm designed the Blu-Ray algorithm, so now what?

I'm not an Apple fanboy, in fact the Apple TV 4k box is the only product of theirs I own.
I just enjoy my subscription to their streaming app. YMMV. Amazon might be a good option if you got a thing against Apple.

Too bad, your loss IMHO.
So you never seen Pink Floyd live? They've been doing 4 channel surround concerts since the very beginning.

Maybe, I don't know.
I don't see the rip-off of hawking a answer to a non-existant problem as being related to BD in any case.
YMMV

I agree about surround sound. I go back and forth between my stereo system and my surround system. Last night it was listening to music all on the surround system. I wouldn't want to be without it. My surround system can have some qualities my stereo system does not. (And, visa versa).

Just thought if MQA is so evil that its creator's other creation must be boycotted just like Tidal. I do regret not ever seeing Pink Floyd, but I am not a big venue kinda guy. More like the spit of the singer hitting you in the face type. Honestly, I am just a whatever floats your boat kinda guy. If you love multichannel more power to you. If you want to have Apple or Amazon great. I just don't see the reasoning for changing.

Gee wiz, because the sound is so much better, when both are done right and the listening test is controlled for biases.

At the individual sighted listening level, if one's appreciation of MCH's superiority is blocked by one's biases, then of course that is one's loss, and one has to put up with what one can live with, like the claustrophobe living on the sidewalk.

As they say in the classics, "your loss".

cheers

Where did you get it?
Is there a brand name associated with it?

But you can also use Sporicidin... it's cheaper, and it's not a specialised vinyl cleaner - but it does a good job too...

That's a later development, isn't it? I trialed Tidal a coupla years ago now, but the overall content, gui and ad content were too annoying for me but still wouldn't support Tidal merely because they encourage mqa....no reason to support that kind of nonsense.

I hate when good things happen to non-senical topic titles. :)

How did this ("Why do records sound so much better than digital") morph into condemning MQA (a worthwhile crusade!). :)

We all agreed that records are clearly the superior medium. Past there, it was just a matter of winding down ;)

Just to let you know I am so old that I actually had a quadrophonic system back in the day. I only had a few quad LPs though.

I'm so old I saw quad lp come and go without a lot of interest.

I am so old that I actually had a monophonic system back in the day.

Me, too, but now I deeply committed to multichannel (and no vinyl for many years).
