I'm considering the following setups. I think all of them sound great. I do tend to be a bit fickle with gear, but I'm a lover of all types of music. Should I go for the Mac power amp, I'd probably leverage my Topping Pre90 I have laying around. It's a great sounding pre! I listen to a ton of different music, but I want something that will do Ane Brun's voice, along with Floozies dynamics. Also, for those that haven't heard the Michi amp setup, it's pretty excellent sounding, I recommend it highly.

I'm leaning towards those 4 combinations. Based on my historical knowledge of product and looks. :D

First world decision problems. Good grief, can't you make up your own mind at this point? Can't see buying McIntosh in any case (well, maybe resale value), don't know about Michi let alone any particular audible issues/advantages.

I believe that is the Rotel pre and power amp. Cutting edge stuff apparently with design philosophy from the Michi product of the 90's.

From HiFI News regarding the Rotel Michi S5 power amp.>

"2x500W/8ohm and 2x800W/4ohm spec. is very conservative as the S5 actually delivers 2x670W/8ohm and 2x1.17kW/4ohm with 691W, 1.39kW and 1.78kW achieved under dynamic conditions into 8, 4 and 2ohm. A 30A current limit gives a dynamic output of 902W/1ohm"

In no particular order:
  • KII Three with BXT.
  • Neumann KH420 with 4 KH750 DSP
  • Genelec 8751b with W371A
  • Grimm Audio LS1 with LS1s
I would go for those systems above where the main speakers see 3-ways.

Sounds like an end game power amp.
