Any investors flying in are likely vultures right now looking for "distressed" properties.

Now, that is sweet, isn't it. ...Like fake FEMA imposters trying to rip off Americans who suffered Harvey, Irma, and now Maria...and next...Wilma.

Those people should be prosecuted right away and electrocuted on the electric couch. Gone, zip, good riddance of them scambags.

"Tesla, however, has sent hundreds of its Powerwall batteries, which collect and store solar energy, to help provide power more immediately to Puerto Ricans."

Woman: "Cool! I need walls!"

The highest level of restoration is ... GAS.
The oil companies make sure they don't lose any important revenues.
You jump in your car with a full tank of gazoline heading to the supermarket only to discover that they don't have what you truly need; food, water, batteries, perfumes, and dishwashing soap.

Then you go to your local video store and rent a VHS tape...movie.

With natural disasters of that envergure it takes a long time to account for all lives lost.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/11/us/puerto-rico-maria-crisis/index.html

And I am certain that is far from over.
_____

The Mexico earthquake had a tremendous impact on human life; many people died ... hundreds. ...By being crushed under falling floors, ceilings, concrete, ...destroyed houses and high rise buildings.
_____

Hurricane winds rip the roofs apart of houses, the walls too
Without solid concrete houses with steel roofs you are @ the mercy of the strong natural elements.

Wood houses are the most vulnerable, from hurricanes and fires.
Concrete and brick houses are vulnerable to earthquakes.

Steel houses made from Kobe steel, skyscrapers build on solid foundations...fare better. It costs money to buy security. But then, skyscrapers are vulnerable to fire too, when using cheap materials that are easily inflammable...as we saw not long ago in the UK, and also in that unsafe warehouse in California where many young people died.

The codes in which our buildings are built, many are not respected.
It is catastrophic that we allow this. It is gross criminal negligence, it is totally irresponsible.
_____

Maria was a different catastrophic event from nature unleashed fury.
...Like a nuclear disaster...almost.

Can they rebuild stronger and hurricane-proof in Purto Rico, for the next hurricane? They need a lot of money for that...who is going to provide?
No one, they can only relate on their own community with help from the world around.
_____

* This one is not nature related, it is human nature related, man-made:
http://www.businessinsider.com/ceas...-amid-allegations-of-ethnic-cleansing-2017-10

How can we live in this world, on this planet, and allow this to happen?
In the year 2017, after all the lessons we learned from history; beats me!
What is wrong with people!?! Injustice, abuse, sex exploitation, slavery, money traps, tricheries, human degradation, disrespect of human life, rapes, are rampant everywhere, over there, here too in Hollywood.

When do people stop making the situation worst by ignoring and saying nothing and doing nothing, and not helping the already mother nature destructions.
It almost feels like humans have to follow natural destructions by corrupting themselves in the name of money, of jobs, of promotions, of stardom, of power trip, of showoff, of gigantic egos, of inhuman behavior!

How much sickness is it required in the world before a cure is found?
There is no cure for a disease that humans encourage; the disease is in humans themselves. The cure is up to them...the more they spread their disease by doing nothing the worst it gets. Nobody has the guts to stand for what's right; they all are living in fear of losing their paychecks. And that, is the real disease spreading like wildfires, like strong winds, like hurricane killers. Nobody cares about anything but money.
It don't matter what we put into the atmosphere, what we put in our ocean's, what we eat and consume. We are consuming/extinguishing our own selves.

Thanks for reading.

Maria; she hit hard, real hard, and now three weeks later Maria is not going away, to the contrary, she revealed a reality more real than any imagination.
Hundred of people are missing, water is missing, debris are all over, dead animals are left to rot and bring diseases, power is missing for a lot of people,...brief this is human survival in a third world country where help cannot reach them all, where the infrastructure is so demolished that they are left in abandon. Nature has delivered the most deadly blow...misery for years and tears to come. Human reality cannot cope with stuff like that, humans are not strong enough, unless a miracle, unless they believe in miracles, unless they have support from the banks of America, from the United States of America, from the World's Help Confederation, from God.
Do you believe in humanity on Earth, do you believe in miracles from the heavens, ...Maria was and still is and will remain the cyclone storm from hell, the pulverising winds of destruction, the realisation of man's incapacity to deal with nature blows of that magnitude in countries where money doesn't grow on dead trees, on washed away lands, on caring alone, on abandonment.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/12/us/puerto-rico-hurricane-maria-three-weeks-update/index.html

Three weeks later ...

Quit watching the Depressing News Channels...

Is your Fort McMurray 100% seventeen months later?

Oct. 10, 2017: "Within 90 days of being sworn in (whenever that is), what I propose is that we’re going to provide an update on the state of the rebuild and the what the municipality is doing to address any barriers faced by residents,” said Don Scott."

I guess that's a "No". Maybe even a little political...

---

News today is "Trump says FEMA can't stay there forever!"

Well, duh...

---

PR Status: http://status.pr/

Here's a FEMA update page... https://www.fema.gov/hurricane-maria

Looks like some progress to me.

Months long recovery was anticipated even before Maria hit.

It's still Month 0.

This is a public forum, this is a civilized community of intelligent members and readers. The tropic is about hurricane Maria and the devastation she brought to the people of Puerto Rico.

The truth of the reality, mister Ray, is free to be shared in an open forum of good mind people who can make a difference towards an advancing better world.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/12/opinions/trump-abandoning-puerto-rico-reyes/index.html

The news I want to read or not is my own affair; it is yours to do what you do with your own affairs. Plus you don't have to read if not interested. It is not about me, so please don't criticise the messenger, but keep the focus on the related tropic. Please, I think, affirmative. Thank you very much.
_____

If the fire from Fort McMurray was the topic of this thread, I would discuss that fire. But it is not.

Puerto Rico

Would you drink that water?

http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/13/us/puerto-rico-superfund-water/index.html

As Puerto Rico Struggles With Lack of Drinking Water, Residents Turn to Toxic Waste Sites

puertorico09252017getty.jpg

When desperate you drink and eat anything to survive, even if cancer comes with it. Or do you?
It is unbelievable that they are not testing the water first.
The water issue, the power issue, the logistics, the devastation, the breakdown of infrastructures Maria brought with her is of desperate magnitude.
It has been 25 days now...and counting.

Where are the helicopters with 40-gallon water containers?
Any intelligent person would know that the number of dead people is not what has been reported; it is impossible.
And if the water from those 'Superfunds' is contaminated, that number will grow with time; people with cancer.

The longest without power for me has been 8 days. By then I thought I was living in a primitive world. Tired, dirty and cranky from lack of shower, walking into rooms and flipping the light switch out of habit, being cold for the whole duration, etc. I can't even fathom 25 days and not having water either!

Amir, we are used to luxuries here where we live. It is not necessary better, it simply comes with the territory...more or less accommodations.

In the Amazonian jungles tribes live there free and happy and healthy without a light switch, without bathtubs, without OLED TVs, without credit cards, without shopping malls, without guns, without refrigerators, without washing and drying machines, without parking lots, without park-o-meters, without hot water tanks, without electric stoves, without coffee makers, without toasters, without walk-in closets, without shoe collections, without 3d Blu-ray movie collections, without iPods, without rechargeable androids, without Internet, without high-fashion Italian wardrobes, without pyjamas, without electric blsnkets, ...without all the material things we take for granted. We are spoiled batches of material capitalists here, without anymore human values.

We stole from the Indians, we stole their land and their dignity, we rape their culture, their people, their values. We are a bunch of pirate thiefs stealing the carribean beaches and treating the locals as an inferior race.

Puerto Rico would love becoming the 51st state. Maybe one thousand years from now when the entire American continent will be under water...Atlantis.

For now they are most likely drinking toxic water in many areas.
And that, doesn't happen in the jungles of the Amazon.

I can do without all the other stuff. But this one is out of the question. :D

Can you imagine bringing a Sony or Panasonic or LG OLED TV in the Amazonian jungle to show to some remote wild tribe living there.
@ first they would be impressed to see 'The Revenant' in HDR on that OLED screen. Than they would think we're most likely coucou.

It's all in the perception, the perspective of our environment.

The thing is this; man has that general attitude of conquering other's lands, territories, cultures, richness, exploitate their soil, their gold, their oil, their diamonds, their rubis, their emeralds, and trade for OLED TVs and smokescreens and mirrors.

In Puerto Rico, after the passage of Maria, the tourist industry on the white sandy beaches have vanished; all is left is toxic water, broken power grids, blocked roads, destroyed lands and homes, people without a roof, food, clean water, and US dignity. Because after all they are US citizens, without their own State, and with a devastated island, vanished resources, vanished future with high debt.

This weekend, now, they are sending teams to analyse and test the water toxicity level of those Superfunds. ...Almost four weeks later!
Why? Because some people woke up.

We don't need to be super bright to realise the situation, and the desperation, and the general attitude of some high shots of our social democracy. All we need to know is right there in front of us, and we cannot count on anyone to help and support them than ourselves.

I hope they won't screw up with the water testing, because their lives depend of it. And we know how things can go with drinking water; we just have to look @ our history of corruption and deceipts from big corporations and their contaminated water killing our children and families, right here in the land of the brave and the free.

Just recently, ...as last year in Flint, Michigan:
https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/03/the-real-cause-of-the-flint-crisis/472305/

• And here: https://www.theguardian.com/environ...er-testing-cheats-chicago-boston-philadelphia

So, how is the process of water testing going to happen in Puerto Rico?

It is not only important to be aware but it is essential to protect life no matter what.
If we don't we are not worth of living with each other. The universities we build, the teachers we put in them...all is in vain, all is for nothing, all is a social system falsified deep down to its core. People can break or save our humanity, people @ the top, with the big decision changes, with the control, the power.

Human values; where have they gone now? Clean water; we all need clean water to survive, there are no two ways about it.

CNN had the water tested at the toxic site and surprisingly, all three wells passed the test complying with Federal and state standards! They university professor who tested it said he would drink that water himself.
