"Tinnitus anyone?" (UK pronunication)

There was a big study done on it in 2019 with a blind test group using Ginko root (which is the "active" ingredient in Quietus which is crazy priced). I've researched it for several family members who have it, the most common is barometric tinnitus which kicks in as the weather/barometer changes. As far as audio equipment that might help, there was a study here using the Turtle Beach Hypersonic speaker system. I've had their headphones, but haven't tried those speakers.
HearingReview has a ton of current information too, there's always technology improvements coming out.

I got tinnitus from my service in the US army (drafted) as an artilleryman. Gotta love the dynamic range of an 8" howitzer shooting charge 5! Palpable impact! Slam! The sonics!

I have it on both ears. It is caused by severe stress for a longer period of time. It is a present 24/7. I don't consider it a big problem.

Is it caused by stress? That's such a shame - I'm sorry to hear that. I get pretty bad tinnitus when I'm tired. I know it's time to go to bed when it comes on. It's incredibly loud in the evening when i'm tired, albeit always there unfortunately.

Everyone knows you need at least a 10" for decent bass ;)

I’m 58 and I only have occasional hits of 10-15 seconds. About a decade ago I started carrying attenuators and noise-cancelling IEMs for subway, concerts, movies, airplanes, etc.

Yes it is, in 2017-2018 i had to go through a lot of stress not knowing I have ASS. Besides Tinnitus it caused a heart attack, poly neuropathy in my hands and feet and extrasystoles. My record blood pressure in that time was 190-250. And I was a rather healthy person riding my bike 10-15 hours a week by average and running once or twice a week.

I knew there's a family history of this in my family.

Strangely enough it was bad but it feels like it was really bad the past few months testing a lot of audio equipment. I thought I damaged something and went to the audiologist and he said my hearing is exceptional (like top percentile) and I didn't believe it when I ran my results and double-checked charts of other people in the same age range (20's, 30's, 40's) and looked at my standard hearing test chart, as well as a test that was done that measured similarly using bone-conduction, I saw my hearing is really fine in the speaking ranges. No signs of trauma, pressure, or inflammation, and no wax issues or buildup.

persistent ear ringing, and the best this top doctor (very widely acclaimed) and others could provide was that it might be from TMJ or jaw-clenching and to "reduce my stress," (who hasn't heard this one before -- easier said than done).

I'm resurrecting this thread to know if there's anything I can do. The irony was when I was taking the hearing test, my tinnitus was so severe that I thought it was blocking me from performing "even better" on that standard hearing and especially the bone conduction hearing test.

It seems it is related to my head posture and how tense/stressed I feel. If I do a really strong shoulder exercise (lift heavy focusing on shoulder presses and such), and if my neck is tense, or jaw, or if the weather is really rainy or bad, I feel worse. I never had this issue. Now if I put my audio equipment on, before I even play anything, I have to deal with ringing, and when I do play something it feels like I need to increase volume just to focus on the thing and not my tinnitus.

I asked GPT for advice and it didn't give me much. Said to check my blood pressure. Okay fine -- 108/55 60 pulse. Not high and normal for me.
Said to avoid alcohol and coffee. I don't drink those.

Said to sleep well: I might be oversleeping, I'm sleeping very well. Said to do a sleep study... listen I just wanna live... a normal happy life w/o a ringing.

Any tips?
