The Death of Windows 10

I think it is better. Otoh, they sure are turning it into an awfully busy OS. This because they are trying to monetize every aspect of it.
Windows Pro can be pretty clean. I’ve set up five w11 pro machines with no discernible bloatware. Business will not tolerate an OS that pops up sales pitches. The user probably isn’t authorized to respond to them.

It remains easy to install Win11 on non compliant computers. Runs perfectly on my ThinkPad X270. I don't think it has much higher hardware needs than Win10, that's MSFT scamming users.

The basic CPU load is identical. And I see no new headturning features or capabilities.. I'd be hard pressed to name any.

Has anyone actually experienced significant issues from running Win11 on non-compliant -- e.g. non-TPM and/or nominally unsupported older CPU -- hardware?

TPM2.0 became pretty universal a long time ago. Are there really that many computers out there that don't support it? And the CPU limits are stupid.

My "non compliant computer" has zero issues and just updated to the latest big Win11 version all by itself. Zero performance issues. ThinkPad X270 with i7.

My PeeCee is a (roughly) 15 year old HP tower with a quad-core CPU and 16GB of DRAM that is entirely adequate to my needs. The only thing I need that this old monster can't do is 4K video, and for that I have a little Beelink thing running Win11 that uses a big LG TV for it's monitor. I refuse to give up a perfectly functional computer just because M$ has imposed (IMO unnecessary) hardware requirements in order to accommodate an OS that is only marginally better. Of course, I also drive a 23 year old car, so there's that....

The only feature of Windows 10 that I completely miss in Win7 is scrolling when hovering over inactive windows.
Oh well, Win11 works for my purposes as well. Need to have working software, therefore, need to keep somewhat current.

Did you end up with a watermark?

When Windows 11 is installed on a device that doesn't meet the minimum system requirements, a watermark is added to the Windows 11 desktop. A notification might also be displayed in Settings to advise that the system requirements aren't met.

If a device that doesn't meet the minimum system requirements for Windows 11 experiences issues after upgrading to Windows 11, Microsoft recommends going back to Windows 10.
