I'm trying to use a Wiim Proplus with a Samsung s90c. The route is s90c Optical out to Wiim to fosi monoblocks.

Everything sounds great when using the Wiim with wifi but when I use my tv Optical out and the Wiim, the bass sounds boomy, there are new sibilent frequencies and the soundstage falls apart. Would this be the fault of the TV or the wiim?

Tvs are designed to be plugged into soundbars I can't imagine a new Samsung oled should output anything this bad.

Fixed:
1. Open up the Samsung service menu. While the tv is on. Mute, 1, 1, 9, Enter/Select. The hospitality menu will then show up. Press 1,2,3,4,5. This will bring up the basic service menu. Then hover over the bottom option that says "Advanced". Hold the volume up for 5 seconds. This will bring up the advanced service menu go to control options > sound > spdif gain, it will start at -9 gain you can set that to 0 so that the optical out volume isn't strangely low. Finally find the option for spdif bypass and set that to bypass_none. That will make it so there is no TV processing done on the output Optical signal (I know the bypass_none sounds like it would do the opposite).

End result: The optical output from the tv now sounds almost as good as wifi though even with spdif gain set to 0 the volume from wifi still starts at a higher base. Wiim is also set to 0 gain for all inputs, so that is strange. Overall much improved sound.

Audio (digital or analog) out of TV seems to be the most fraught source going. Glad you got it sorted .
