So recently, Tang Band has made this off centre voice coil full range speaker.

Seems quite good. I notice audio express states "an important and interesting new driver from Tang Band"
However, this is not new; there were Japanese speakers like this decades ago; Victor, and the more common JVC "Oburikon" drivers.
I would say my little Oburikon speakers sound a bit smoother than the standard JVC full range drivers.

Now we just need a high end version

Seems better than most full range as far as weird peaks in the treble. I would want finer resolution FR graphs if I was to use them, though.

Victor sx-L9 and possibly similar models for the long screenshot driver.
There's quite a few other Oburikon speakers by JVC branded products , though it seems most of it stayed in Japan and elsewhere got the small 3" minisystem ones

15dB down at 10kHz and 30° off axis. Vertically it is down by 20dB even. Not much of a wide band operation, at least in my book. In real life such will sound quite muffled.
X-treme distortion, as expected and unavoidable, below 200Hz or so. Despite the Klippel optimized motor (kudos!). Again, not really wide band.

Reduced severity of any resonance/reflection related to the distance between coil and surround . It had its own complications but seems to work well on small drivers. I guess bigger drivers are harder to keep stable
