So finally ordered a proper sub for my music listening with my Klipsch rp-600m. Current sub is cheap kind & very old 12". It easily rolls off after 80hz without EQ and it's not high wattage.
Now given the huge roll off, I don't have issues with bass notes definitions or volume for 30hz, 40hz, 50hz, etc All sound fine to me even with Klipsch pushing 95db+
12" old SUB freq response, red line estimate of monolith THX 10" response
As a fun experiment, I EQ the thing and added +20db gain on the LFE out and I noticed I'm actually not liking the heavy volume for lower frequency. I guess I'm sensitive to lower frequency. The lower they get , the lower the volume I like.
How would changing to a flat response subwoofer that has roll off at 16hz change the sound for music ?
Would I need to add EQ to have it drop -10db -15db early ?
