I have ibasso DX80. It has spdif out with supplied cable. What is the best way to connect to Fiio K5 Pro to use the K5 dac and headphone amp. Ibasso will only be used as source. Also trying to understand this whole spdif thing. The supplied cable has a 3.5mm that goes to player and other end is coax male. Can a 3.5mm toslink fit in player ? Also the supplied cable appears to be MONO HUH ?

S/PDIF is digital, and all the channels are encoded (e.g. using PCM) on a single connection. It is the destination’s job to decode the signal. Hence your adapter is fine, it converts a 3.5mm jack to a coax, which is one of the standards for S/PDIF.
Looking at the device, it has a TOSLINK in, but not out, so you will have to use the coax input of your destination.

Saw that one, wasn't sure if that could be used for audio.
It’s a USB cable, it transports digital data. The fact that that data represents sound is not material.
