Hm, it seems not a trivial repair. I wonder if the MKII version improved. It better had, costing more then twice than M-Audio BX8 D3 recently reviewed...
If you don’t want to hold the chip in place during heating, use a dot of superglue. I would probably have done the legs first and then heat up the power pad. But I’m by no means an expert in this, so don’t take my advice
