Just some pics I took of the sunset over Lake Ontario with my old iPhone in 2019. I thought they came out nice.
I don't know shit about photography, so be gentle, lol.

For all of those who "liked" my earlier photo of my model ship (10 years in the making so far), here is a progress pic.

The hull has now been completed, a plinth was constructed, and she is waiting for rigging. Or rather, waiting for my replacement scale model rope to arrive from the USA. I can tell you that veneer isn't as easy to apply as it seems to be - this was my first attempt at applying veneer, and I chose the most difficult veneer of all to apply. Now I am applying the finish, which will take 2 weeks to account for all the drying time which is needed - 8 coats of Tung Oil, finished by burnishing, with 2 days of drying time between coats; but ideally 1 week of drying time per coat. This experience has given me new respect for speaker manufacturers who use burl veneer. FYI, a 600mm x 300mm sheet of matched burl veneer costs AUD$39 (USD$25). You would need 20 sheets of this stuff to veneer a pair of floorstanding loudspeakers, so that's $500 in veneer alone, not counting the cost of the chassis, drivers, varnish, machinery, and labour. I am starting to think that a $10k pair of speakers finished in real wood veneer is actually reasonably priced!

The amount of A/V electronics on my latest visit was very unusual! I've been casually browsing around for an old-school, 2-channel stereo receiver from the pre-computer + remote control era, when the feel of the controls was a selling point, not an afterthought. But today's bunch were all plastic front panels, rotary encoders and miniature clicky switches, so little different from the Marantz AVR I already own. Goods seem to move quickly through the shop, and it's very possible that much will be gone within a day or two.

Blue radio is a Trever Baylis clockwork thing which brings back fond memories for me, but this particular unit appeared to have been clumsily tampered with.

I wonder who buys bric a brac bearing inspirational or humorous sayings, but there's an awful lot of it.
