New Speakers for AudioLab 6000A - Elac DBR62 or Focal Aria 906

I also bought my pair of 936s from homecinesolutions for only 1500 the pair (demo model). Shipping was around 80 to the Netherlands. Keep an eye open for discounts!

Well, well, finally I found a nice deal on used in mint condition piano black Focal Aria 906's. The relatively small speakers pair well with the somewhat low powered (75 watts in 4 ohm) Audiolab 6000A because of a sensetivity of allmost 90 db.

So there you go. OP choose the Elac DBR 62 and I the Focal Aria 906 ( see topic title). That goes to show that the Audiolab itself is comfortable and capable to shine with various speaker sets. And the end result is two happy campers with different taste in sound.

I have both the Elac DBR62 and the Polk R200. I think the R200 is better. I currently run the DBR62 with an Aiyima A07 and the R200 with an SMSL AO200. I think the DBR62 requires more power from the amp. In my opinion the R200's sound is more neutral, without the DBR62's emphasized upper bass. The R200 is also more dynamic and its bass has precision and power.

I am now looking for new speakers for another apartment. The alternatives would be Focal Chora 816 floor standing speakers or the Polk R200. I could get the Choras for less than 500 euros and the R200 for about 550 euros. Has anyone opinion, which one should I choose for a living room of about 28 m2 in an apartment building with concrete walls? The power amplifier would be Audiophonics HPA-S250NC.

I also bought a pair of new Aria 906, high gloss black. It cost me 1000 euros.
I think it sound very well with my Audiolab 6000a. Also I use a subwoofer, Emotiva BasX S12.
Very happy.

My guess is that you went at Cobra, right ? These are pretty common references from them. In a store, you should also be careful about the sellers speech, otherwise, your listening comparaisons are somewhat biased.;)

Yes, I owned Evoke 20, which I paid 1600€ for. Excellent bookshelves, yet very power hungry. The 6000A won't be able to push them properly, IMHO. Emit II 20 are decently good, but nowhere near the Evoke. Not sure I would pay 950€ for these.

Absolutely not. Exception from Borea, Esprit EZ, Esprit Anniversary and Magellan Anniversary are indeed very bright.
So your are saying you heard recent br03s and they are bright sounding?

I continue this thread because of the Audiolab 6000a tag.

What I've done is split the pre out (picture 1) with a splitter ( picture 2) and connected a subwoofer and a silver IOM ncore power amp ( pic 3)

What I noticed is that you need to select "Pre" on the Audiolab 6000a every single time. It's quite a sound difference from leaving it on " integrated" with still active pre out ports.

I don't know if there are better options to split the signal?
