Mono or stereo 3,5mm cable for 12v trigger?

Is there a difference between using a mono or stereo tip 3,5 mm cable for 12v trigger between pre and power amp? I see both mono and stereo cables beeing sold as "for audio or 12v trigger".

Well... I have actually had the odd issue with using a stereo 3.5mm in some devices as a 12V trigger, but 99% have been fine. To ensure 100%, use a mono.

Some equipment will work with either cable, but some will only work with a mono cable. When in doubt, a mono cable will work with all triggers.

Nothing really. It was just a picture of a cable that could be interpreted either way and labeled 3,5 mm cable.

The cables that came with my Emotiva ET3 were 3.5mm tip and ring sleeve (mono).

Edit: I meant sleeve not ring.
