These days you sometimes can find the multi-track of songs.
For instance Ben Keursser publish on Soundcould the stems/multi track of Steely Dan's Kid-Charlemagne.

So using this public multitracks/stems you can make your own version/re-master.

In the multichannel section of the audiohobby there are numerous folks that remix things for mch. Often better than official releases.
The can be found in the Facebook "Quad Traders" group. They only allow posting stuff that has not been available for ten years.
There is also some discussion of the topic at the Quadrophonic Quad web forum but they restrict file sharing more strictly.
