JDS ATOM/ D30 using DT990 250 ohm

Morning!
I finished setting up my new amp and dac and have noticed that on low gain I need to max out the volume to listen as loud as I like my music on my headphones, but on high gain i only need about 50-60% max volume. Is it better to have the low gain maxed out or to sit around 50% on high gain for optimal use of my new setup with my specific headphones. Thanks all for the tips!

Conclusions
Given a choice, use the low-gain setting of the headphone amplifier unless actual measurements stipulate otherwise. In the case of both Schiit Magni 3 and JDS Labs Atom, this is indeed the wise strategy.

The SINAD is better in low gain mode on the JDS Atom, so choose low gain mode if that could gives you enough power.
