Here is some new Latin jazz for (what's left of) 2022. Pianist Oscar Hernandez and his band Alma Libre put forth some nice tunes on their album "Vision." Here is a live on Zoom performance of the 2nd song from the album, and below is a YouTube link for the entire album. Enjoy!

Misha Tsiganov is a Russian pianist who won national jazz competitions as a youth, moved to the USA to study at Berklee at the bequest of Gary Burton, and has been an in-demand session musician in New York since ~2003. He's released 4 albums, and this is the first cut from his 2022 release "Misha's Wishes", and features Seamus Blake on sax. Below is link to a YouTube version of the full album, if you enjoy what you hear. Straight ahead jazz.

John Daversa is a Grammy-winning trumpeter, arranger and jazz educator, and has released about a dozen albums since 2009, about half of them with a big band. Here is live in the studio performance of the first tune from "ARCeology: The Music of MSM Schmidt", the 2022 release by the ARC trio & The John Daversa Big Band. The video ain't the greatest production, but the sound is nice and the band is jammin'. A YouTube link to the full album follows. Enjoy!

The Dave Slonaker Big Band has released 4 albums since 2013, and earned a Grammy nomination with their first. The two videos below are from their 2022 release, "Convergency." That is Peter Erskine, of Weather Report fame, on the drums. A YouTube link to the entire album follows the videos. Big band jazz lives on, as shown by this wonderful new release!
