Got my little hands on the Purifi 10"s

Is there anyway to redesign and move those braces to the middle of the exterior panels and cut-out the driver area? Typically the edges of a box are the strongest and the middle of the panels need the most reinforcement/are more susceptible to resonance.
Agree. Corners are "Self-Bracing," so to speak. The general rule-of-thumb I've seen is to make certain you have reinforcement bracing every 10." More than that just adds weight.

Also, is there a reason (perhaps I missed) for giving each driver its own chamber?

That would change the 15 gallon back box specified by the manufacturer also that would delay the project, there will be fluff attached to the perimeter to lesten resonances, thanks for the feedback.

But it is trapezoidal bracing which has to have a positive effect.

That you’ll need to explain, please.

Where I see the need for bracing in your cabinet, you have none. The panels behind each driver must be braced. As it is those ~28x14” panels are not.

Your design, your money… but common practice and best practice is not being utilized. That’s all I say.

Bye. :)

With ££££ of drivers per cab, take the time and design them properly imo. The bracing you have planned at the moment is doing nothing but adding weight to those cabs. Connecting the middle of the panels to the centre panels will make this box very strong. Something like this would be a gazillion times better.

Especially if one tied in the cabinet corners.

The corners do not need bracing, they are the strongest part of a box. The middle of the panels are the most susceptible to flex and or resonance.
Yes if the vibration comes from air pressure and not the speaker bodies.

At something like 28", instead of single center brace per side, it should be 2 (1 to each side of the Motor).

Doing so will both reinforce the panel itself and also help take any flex away from any other part of the cabinet / minimize audible resonance.

I know that’s your mule…
Don’t need the diagonal braces to the corners. Just make the new braces to divide the outer panel into thirds. Also per our friends rendering, make certain to cut out section of the brace, it can be u shaped or a round hole, even a square cut out.

You will have a more successful cabinet that way! ;)

i want to have 4 independent 15 gallon backspaces. Yes the new supports are arched contouring the speaker but with open space to preserve cavity volume.

Watch from 8:15 they do duel opposing for waveforming, exactly the same idea.

If you use 4 purifi ptt10 drivers, duel opposing what output performance are we looking at? I guess the same as the quad opposing.

Also because they are small 10" drivers they would go to about 800hz before directivity deviation, looking at the review tested results posted earlier.

Do you think there would be an issue just sticking a horn on top of one of these for an amazing 2 way speaker?

They may have gotten that idea from me through Trinnov and the Trinnov groups at FB I had two 45 minute meetings over the concept at CEDIA 23 with T brass. They found merit to it, so did Jeremy of Origin and Speakercraft mentioning wall mounted subs rattle the drywall too much with 80-100 hz. My original concept...

fq signals.

Maybe, and often the case.

Perlisten also have got onwall/in wall duel opposing shown at cedia.

The new ascendo 28" is just 4 woofers stuck on a giant cone at $30k usd. I was wondering if I could do the same with 9 or 16 ptt10 in either 3x3 or 4x4 configuration. One could even leave the centre of the array empty and stick a horn in to make it duel concentric.

Would be much cheaper and have better directivity, limited to where combfiltering comes into place, considering half wavelength and all.

I think the main problem with small woofers and high excursion is group delay. Obviously on a ported design it's absolutely a no go with small drivers.
But on a sealed design could we overcome this using lots of power?
I mean the paradigm sub 2 with its 6 x 10" is under 1 cycle I think past 10hz, correct me if I'm wrong.

I'll keep an eye on this. I like the idea of multiple smaller drivers. Quite happy with the Purifi 10" woofers. My budget could stretch to two per box. Would need 4 boxes of two. However, way above my technical knowladge....

Interesting that the Ascendo 28" is actually 4 subs with a cone wager stuck on the front.... Didn't know that.
