Dear ASR peeps,

due to my budget and my extremely small room (15qm) room I want to buy the 7040 sub which is *sub optimal* i know.. . as far as I am aware this one doesn't have sam. the recommended sub by Genelec which is the 7350 / 7360 which is completly out of my price range..
my question is, since i want to use genelec grade in combination with glm kit, is going to be a complete chaos to integrate the 7340 because it doesnt have sam
or is there maybe a workaround ?
all the other modells are just overkill for my small room and I use Headphones when i want to go loud. maybe i can get away without using a sub at all?

ty in advance <3

I'm not sure how the Genelec mic work with other software, but with a Umik you should be able to integrate a non-SAM sub just fine. Just not as automagically.
You'd do the 8331s a disfavour by not using them with a sub, they're not intended to go that low and the distortion skyrockets if you try. Subs aren't that complicated beasts though, you can save money by going for non-genelec ones imho.

There is no 7340; if you want SAM/GRADE you need 7350 at a minimum. I'd just keep saving for 7350. They're frequently available used and are very reliable.

Other subs can be had cheaper but SAM is quite a time saver comparatively. You can be done in <30 minutes even if you've never done it before.

thanks guys! and yes @tifune you are right I meant the
Genelec 7040 APM which only costs 800 (550€ less than 7350)
Not sure what the shipping cost is, but:

First one was pretty cheap, and some scratches doesn't matter that much on something put away from sight. If you're not buying it then I might, just to be able to compare how well manual integration works compared to the automatic.

No, I do not recommend the 70x0 series in general. There is very little, if any, audible difference from less expensive competent subs that are cheaper and smaller. Frankly they do not represent the best value in the Genelec line.

As others have mentioned, going up to the SAM/GLM DSP versions would be the only worthwhile Genelec subwoofer to buy - 7350a would be ideal as @thulle linked.

thx for the ebay links. will def not buy the non sam one, thanks for clarifying that guys" wow 700 ish for the 7350 is superb. maybe i should consider getting one of ebay. the thing is, mainly due to my lack of knowledge, I am always conerned about the wear and tear of a used subwoofer 2nd hand. but i guess there is very little that could go wrong, Subwoofers may work or not but there is probably nothing in between. i dont care about cosmetic imperfections tho. also Genelecs ae built like a tank i guess so this will be a save buy. thanks!
