I don't, but I did try that and no dice. I'm actually looking at some refurbished DT 1990s now for £275 and DT 880s for £100. The 1990s are more than double the price of the 990s but I don't know, it seems like an endgame headphone for a lot of people.
you set as an option in the title the HD 599. The 560s is actually a better option and closer to the DT 880 but with better sound quality and a detachable cable. Maybe you should reconsider it, you can find it on the sennheiser outlet too.

So how would you rank these options?:

HD 599
HD 560s
DT 990 Pro
DT 880 Edition
TYGR 300r
DT 1990 pros

I might take a look at getting the 560s again but honestly, I prefer the sound of vanilla 990s out of the box than 560s and from what I remember the clamp force was actually pretty damn tight.

that's really hard to answer, because it depends on personal preference and intended usage.
I can still give you my personal opinion:
DT 1990 pros
HD 560s
DT 880 Edition
DT 990 Pro
HD 599

I cannot say anything about TYGR 300r.

I suggest you to read some reviews on this forum and audition the headphones that fits your intended usage and budget.

true, the clamp force of the sennheiser is stronger than the beyerdynamic. For that I also prefer the beyerdynamic. But it's something you also get used, so it is difficult to judge on a single listening session. I got used to the 560s and really like them.

Based on your comment (vanilla 990), do you eq your headphones? You definitively should, whichever headphone you used, but even more if you get a beyerdynamic.

be aware that those bayerdynamics have what I affectionately refer to as 'murder treble'. To my ear they need to be EQ'd to be usable. The HD599 is good to go as is, though it has a boost in the lower mids if I recall that some don't like.

The DT880 (with passive filter) has the same comfort but has a bit less midbass emphasis.
The DT990 is a bit 'fuller' in sound, the DT880 a bit more 'neutral'.

HD560S is not comparable. It is more neutral in the bass but a bit more bright (without a filter) where the DT880/990 are less bright but have this sharpness (without a filter)

The HD560S has replaceable cables. Beyer 880 and 990 do not (mine does).
Personally I prefer the comfort of the Beyers but the HD560S has better stereo-imaging

Interesting, would you happen to know how much shipping would cost? As long as It's not rediculous I think I'd be interested.

Hmm ok, I'll ask a few more questions before I make any decisions if that's ok.

Does the reduced treble affect the detail dramatically or is the majority of it retained?

What stock headphone would you say they sound the 'most like'? Just so I can gauge.

What was your goal when modding the 990 pro in the first place? Was it purely to remove the Trebel peak?

Thanks for your help btw. How would I go about paying for this if I decide on it?

Yes it does. The elevated treble is responsible for the 'hyper detailed' sound of the DT990. Some really like it and if so do not EQ nor filter.
At first listen this might be a reason to buy it. After a while that elevated treble becomes 'elevated' and sharpness (a negative) pops up which one cannot 'unhear'.
The elevated treble in reality is 'fake detail'.
Some hate it, others love it.

A DT990 without the sharpness or Amiron wireless

Modding reason was the broken fixed cable. I do not like the long coiled cable anyway and wanted a replaceable cable.
At first I decided 3-pin mini XLR (so I could use my DT1990 cables) but had 4-pin lying around and thought to make it balanced.

My first real headphones were DT990/600 (originals) and liked them without a filter. Now that I have heard over 100 headphones I can't stand the elevated treble on most recordings (still think it is fine with classical) so the filter is obligatory for me.

Thanks for your help btw. How would I go about paying for this if I decide on it?

IBAN or PayPal.

You can send it back if you don't like it (shipping costs back and forth will be yours) and I will refund the headphone.

Cool, the DT 990s were my first proper set of headphones too, unless you count the M40x's :p

I guess I'm just trying to weigh up what the best option would be. I would ask you but you're probably going to be biased towards your 990s lmao!

So my current options are the DT 880s for £100, your DT 990s for around £105, or the DT 1990s for £275. In reality I'm pretty sure I'll either go with the 990s or 1990s.

God damn. Which would you choose? Lmao.

DT1990 (+ filter) > DT880 (+ filter) > DT990 (+ filter)
That may be the case, but were you in my position, which would you go with do you reckon taking price into account. Might as well throw the TYGRs in there for good measure.

TGRS are even 'warmer' sounding than DT990.
I can only reply from my preference.
DT1990 (+ filter) > DT880 (+ filter) > DT990 (+ filter) > TYGR300

My DT990 is only interesting when you find the DT990 too sharp, want replaceable cable, are thinking of buying a balanced amp in the future and like the all black looks.

Fair enough.
What about without filters, would you still place them in that order?

Lmao ok that's interesting, I can get the 560s for £92 second hand right now and that caught my eye... I can also get the HE 400i for £120... Thoughts on those? Lol.
Thanks by the way!

HD560S > HE400i but am sure there are others that feel it is the other way around.
Comfort and weight differ a lot.
