Does anyone here use an Ambisonic playback system?

Ambisonics is a noncommercialized 3D surround system, quite a bit different from Atmos.

Many years ago I used to download some samples in b-format, 4 channel and they sounded pretty good!
(you can google for those)
Unfortunately there is not much support for it, even to play those files you need some special players (at least that was the case back at the time when I tried it)

Interestingly enough, Dirac and miniDSP have developed an ambisonic microphone - I wonder if anybody here has tried it

I toyed with it for a week or two, flirting with the idea of doing song mixing with it. The lack of demand for that sort of work killed the idea...

Ambisonic can be downmixed to 2 channel stereo or binaural, FYI.
