I have a 2 year old Denon AVR-3700h. Great receiver otherwise, but I can't get any 12v signal from the trigger. Finally getting around to setting up my lexicon amp (Bryston 4B clone) and want to have it turn on with the avr. I've tried turning the trigger to "On" for everything in the Denon settings, as well as checked the voltage on the mono cable with a volt meter and nothing. As a shot in the dark I also tried using a car audio Kicker KISLOC2 to see if I can use the high level outputs to send a 12v signal and that didn't work either as in guessing the receiver needs to see load or it cuts the output from the channel.

Any other options short of buying a new receiver that could send a trigger signal to the amp, or anything I might be overlooking on the receiver?

I have found that Sometimes the 12v cables vary slightly in diameter/shape and don’t work. I have bought them off of Amazon and one won’t work and the other will. Something different about them. Might not be the case in your situation but could be the problem.

Yep 3.5mm mono cable I bought from Amazon. Any links or products recommendations for ones that are confirmed working? Thank you both for your input

Not sure which one worked for me but had bought a couple. One of them just doesn’t fit as snug/ make contact the same so didn’t work. I would say buy a couple from there and return the one that doesn’t work. Other than that maybe something is wrong with the Denon.

The trigger output is 12 V DC at max rated current of 150 mA. It can't require all that hefty of a cable but the connection integrity will be important at such a low current rating.

Your 150mA may be too low to trigger.
I have Fosi ZA3 that I have to physically pressing the knob to power on.
I would like to power on/off using smart plug. So I use simple low cost 12V trigger.
AC DC 12V output wall adapter + 3.5mm mono jack to DC female adapter.
At first, I used AC DC 12V 200mA wall adapter from my old panasonic cordless telephone.
It failed to power on ZA3. So I changed to AC DC 12V 1.5A wall adapter from
my old wifi router. It worked !!! ZA3 can be triggered to power on.
Please excuse me if reply does not make sense.
