Hi all,

I'd like to ask for your expert advice.
Dali Oberon 5 + Cambridge Audio AXR100 would be a good match?
Budget, pretty much this (around 1400 EUR).

Thanks in advance.

Hi @JohnMicius! Welcome to ASR.

Instead of Dali, consider one of Emotiva's floorstanders:

https://emotiva.com/products/factory-renewed-airmotiv-t2-pair-floorstanding-tower-loudspeakers

Dali tend to optimize sound for first impressions in a showroom (boosted treble), rather than long-term enjoyment and neutrality in your listening room at home.

On the other hand, I have the Oberon 5's and am delighted with them after at least 3 years.

I don't notice any boosted treble - even when I turn room correction off.

I haven't compared with Emotiva though so can't give any sort of relative performance indications.

Sadly we don't have measurements for every speaker, but the trend seems to be relatively neutral for Emotiva:

and some extra sparkle for Dali:

Thank you for your reply, May I ask what genres of music do you usually listen? Do you have any experience with the CA AXR100 too?

The Emotivas seem nice but a little more expensive except the refurbished ones , and apparently they aren't available in shops near my area (Italy)

Eclectic - here is a list of some of the music lying around me.

Dire Straits
First aid Kit
Kate Bush
Beatles
Abba
Pink Floyd
When Rivers Meet
Amy Winehouse
Passenger
Brandi Carlisle
Meatloaf
Tina Turner
Dido
Mary J Blige
Led Zeppelin
Norah Jones

Everything on the Radio Paradise main mix.

A (very) little classical.

Not much in the way of heavy rock, though I have at least one Black Sabbath CD and a couple of AC DC.

Regarding the AXR100 - it will be fine. There is little to no audible difference between modern speaker amp performance as long as they are operated within their power limits. Choose your amp based on it having the power needed, and then the features you need, at the price you need and with the quality and after sales support you need. Don't worry about audio performance.

I'm using a Denon 3800 AVR - simply because my music listening space is the same as my AV space.

An alternative to consider (Depending on what your sources are) might be something like a pair of Fosi V3 Mono together with a wiim Pro.

But the AXR is a fine amp at a reasonable price.

Thank you for your detailed reply! Yes the CA has all the features I need...and do you have any experience with the Wharfedale 12.3 or Kef Q550 compared to the Dali?

No, sorry - I've not heard either of those speakers.
