I've been planning a hifi system that needs to be wall mounted and I'm not sure what will offer the best sound for my money. I'm hoping I can get some advice here please? The main sources will be squeezebox streaming from my NAS and Lms server and Bluetooth plus I may get things such as a TV, keyboard or decks I want to plug in.

I have a pair of on-wall speakers I could boost with a slimline sub, replace the speakers and a slim sub or use a pair of big powered monitors such as Adam A8V or something else entirely.

I've had some second hand Dali Oberon on-walls up for a couple of years as a temporary solution to have music while I'm working in there so they could be upgraded with a slim sub but they've never been tested here or by Erins Audio Corner so I've no way of knowing how good they are objectively. Here is a photo of them in the room:

I did find a nuSub XW-800 slim sub from Nubert, which can be wall mounted which got me interested but what would I pair it with? It might make sense to get a Nubert stereo pair to go with them for good integration and to use their built in EQ but having read on here I have my doubts about the quality.

I'm a but put off by the review of their amo product here and their response to it. I also emailed them a couple of weeks ago with questions and I've had no reply. Maybe that's because they don't sell to my country IDK.

So, I'm interested in other ideas and opinions! Such as the wiim amp pro reviewed well here but maybe it lacks the features I need but maybe it could work?

Curious if you've considered in-wall speakers rather than on-wall? On-wall speakers are generally very compromised.

Yes I did consider in wall from the start but that would have required building a false stud wall to contain them inside of the soundproofing layers of plasterboard and insulation. I didn't want to lose the space or go to the extra work and expense. I'm aware of the downsides of on-wall speakers but I had been hoping there were speakers built for this. Otherwise I'm looking for the best compromise for my money.

The on-wall speakers I bought are a compromise. They make use of wall reinforcement and a clever bass port to compensate for the shallow box and small woofer which does work but I'm hoping for an improvement from these. Maybe a sealed type on-wall and a slim sub would sound better?

When asking in another thread about the Adam speakers I was pointed towards the mini DSP flex. That seems like it could be a good solution to countering the effect of unwanted wall reinforcement with DSP as well as being a great DAC and preamp. It also just seems awesome and it's now in the category of things I want even though I don't yet know that I need one. This is why I love these forums!

I'm hoping to go to a store this weekend that has lots of studio monitors to demo including Adam Audio. Is there anything else that I should ask to listen to there? Any advice in general is appreciated.

I did get a reply from nubert with a recommendation today. My guess is my email went in their spam folder. This is the reply:

For the given size of your room I recommend to use a pair of our active speakers model nuPro XS-3000 RC and support them with a subwoofer model XW-800 for a realistic and spectacular bass performance. This speakers support USB-audio, so it is necessary to know about the implemented USB-interface of your raspberry-based squeezebox. Is it USB A, B or C an does your device support USB-audio too? If not, are there alternate RC connectors or optical/coaxial digital connectors available? All of these standards are supported by our speakers, also a Bluetooth interface which supports aptXHD, is implemented. I hope, I could answer your questions well and wish you a nice weekend.
So it's nice to get a reply and XS-3000 RC does look good on their website but I'll not be able to find any measurement by Amir or Erin though.
