Has there ever been an audio product with a screen with enough resolution to show reasonable images, and the designer having it actually show an image of tubes?
I'm thinking, that if a customer of such a product squinted hard enough it could like an analogue unit, despite it having a frickin' display!

I doubt anyone would design such a thing, as it's a case of throwing money at bits for no real reason. That said, I've seen dumb and superfluous things before.

Of course, we have plugin FX, but the screen is already there in terms of the computer/tablet/phone screen/monitor and it's just something to fill the window rather than a grey void.

No but there have been components with tubes that were there only for display.

I've seen some equipment with a tube or two poking out of it, with only it lit up for aesthetics. Totally out of the signal path altogether. I suppose that's even better than a screen!

Cheaper and easier to service (or not).
