Hehe... I had that exact same 8 track player wayyy back in the late 70s early 80s.

Beyond the word play I was thinking of the formats that died without achieving widespread awareness - they're absent but most wouldn't even think of them. People might think of Betamax, but how many would mention Video2000 or VCR - the tape format used by the Philips N1500, not the generic term. 5 1/4" floppies maybe, but probably not the 3" CF2 floppies or the older, larger floppy formats. DAT or DCC?

Not entirely sure what you mean by transport -- presumably not one of these(?). I ain't got one of these...

I do have a "VHS HiFi Stereo Audio Video Recorder", though -- and I know how to use it!
So there's that...
