So I have thought for a nice little surprise for my relatives. I wanted to play some music that was very popular at their time when there were at university.
Suggest me some tracks that were popular and if possible tracks that have very good staging. Thanks a lot wonderful people

Prepare for a weird and, hopefully, wonderful range of music and genres ... I can't imagine that you'll find consensus, but good luck :)

Big events for us (early 80's);
  • Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon - all of it
  • Velvet Underground & Nico - all of it - esp. "Heroin"
  • Genesis - A Trick of the Tail - esp. "Ripples"
  • New Order - Blue Monday
  • All David Bowie - esp. Alladin Sane - esp. "Lady Grinning Soul"
Too much to mention, there was a *lot* of music

Don't forget the Stones' Exile on Main Street. One of my all-time favorites.

They'll especially enjoy Heroin if they are, or were, intravenous drug users.

What were they into? Psychedelic? Folk? Rock? You even had early punk by the late 70s. It was not all Led Zeppelin. Who , or Pink Floyd back then.

Lots of emphasis on the 70s here. Let's aim for some 80s as well:

Van Halen
Metallica
John Mellencamp
Tom Petty
Dire Straits
Robert Cray
The Police
AC/DC
Jimmy Buffett
Bob Marley
