A co-worker of mine got the HKs, had them on his desk at work. I don’t remember how they sounded, but looks alone, next to his iMac they were the talk of the office.

When I was shopping for my first full blown HT system, these speakers were getting some press because they had done well in a magazine's speaker shootout ...

Too be honest, I was pretty infatuated with these speakers and was seriously considering purchasing them for the HT room. Their shape, however, presented some placement challenges, so I didn't pull trigger. Good thing too. Here's the Soundstage measurements for the Norh 6.9 - an upscale version of the speaker pictured above ...

Dodged a bullet I think.
Looks similar to a design I've been sketching up lately as a subwoofer for center stage placement to minimize cabinet reflections.

Disappointing to see this brand doing a conventional box for their subwoofer.

They screwed the pooch on that opportunity.

Subwoofer cabinets do not suffer from diffraction effects because of the wavelength of bass frequencies.

A subwoofer placed in between two main speakers like anything else (ie audio rack) can compromise the front soundstage.

I put my M&K subwoofer on it's back (on pads to clear wires) in order to lower it a few inches and improve soundstage.

Sketch below on an idealized reconfiguration.

Subwoofer currently has front driver pointed up at ceiling, and down firing inverted driver pointed at listener. It sounds good.

I guess that I could get a lower/smaller subwoofer but not in the push/pull cabinet resonance canceling configuration. Will have to build that myself.

I love this thread and would post my own weird 6 prototypes of tension membrane loudspeakers, but dream of doing more with it myself one day.

EDIT:

Note that the sub it's original conventional standing on floor with spikes orientation I resorted to laying multiple layers of carpet under padding and heavy felt folded over the top and sides of enclosure.

In addition, the backside was and still is covered with acoustic foam leaning against it.

These measures helped reduce the sub's presence in the front soundstage.

A sonically invisible enclosure and or lowered profile is a real plus in this area of the room.

Don't forget the Bayz speakers, the Counterpoint and bigger Courante:

The totality of their "spec sheet", but they do have some graphs in the "gallery" I pasted below:
Frequency response: 28Hz - 22kHz
Sensitivity: 90 dB/2.83V/m
Impedance: 4Ω
Minimum Recommended Amplifier: 50W

Sony's brand new nearfield speakers SA-Z1. I would love to try them one day:

Those are the clear winners of the year 2020 for me :D I have looked on the Sony product page and i just can´t believe my eyes- is there a new Sony product development department, with all employees on some new sort of drugs? :D It just looks so wrong on all the pictures, that it is really very, very hard to imagine that somebody would pay 6000 usd for this, whatever the sound quality (yes, that is the price that they are planning to sell for).

I have the Planets! I will miss the aesthetics when I'll replace them... They sound nice as well and can be used as a very decent center (I know the angle is weird but the photo was taken for the guy who made the coffee table)

Are they known people in the industry?

They review the more esoteric stuff on 6moons. Certainly an entertaining site, worth checking out for the prose and the pretty pictures.

And the ads. My gawd, my eyes, the ads. One of the more ad filled, advertising driven places on the web you will ever run across. They have no shame.

Makes me want to open a similar more honestly named web site. WhoreAudio.com Might have to cross register it with SellOutAudio.com and simply AdvertisingAudio.com to cover all the bases.

Maybe Bordello_of_Audio.com or MadamsAudioReview.com need including in the list too.

Just have to maintain certain standards like 7 ads per picture of gear reviewed, and 5 advertising words minimum per review words (and yes that is with flowery, puffed up highly wordy reviewing).

Oh my.

When I first stumbled onto the site I had a lot of trouble parsing the stuff on screen. No idea which product was being reviewed or what was an advertisement. Their formatting/typesetting is awkward, to say the least (from an editor's POV).
