The Sony X-800 UHD BD (and also SACD and DVD-Audio) player can upsample CD's to 88.2 Khz/24 bit and does a good job at it but Saracon is better.
You're right, those graphic charts look off with 44.1 Khz sampling rate upsampled by the Sony X-800. There seems to be both noise and linearity issues, there out of the audio band but these issues shouldn't be there in the first place. I've switched DSEE HX upsampler off from my Sony X-800, I seldom use it, it's only for the CD's that I play once in a while, for the rest that I have ripped I have them both at their native resolution of 44.1/16 and upsampled at 176.4/24 with Weiss Saracon, which makes the CD rips sound better. No upsampler can "invent" resolution that's not in the source, there's no magical trick to turn hey into gold. My theory behind upsampling is that by upping the sample rate the antialiasing filter is moved far away from the audio band when playing, and by reshaping the original 16 bit waveform into a 24 bit one (some upsamplers just add padding 0's, others like Saracon don't) the original wave is smoothed, just my 0.002$.I am also using Sony X-800 UHD BD player to upsample CD ripping sources. But CD ripping sources are 48 kHz/16 bit format files which resampled by SoX Resampler. DSEE HX upsampler of Sony X-800 UHD BD player seems to produce better upsampled spectrum by using 48 kHz/16 bit format files than using 44.1 kHz/16 format files.

Tidal software will decode MQA for you so the D50 will work just fine with no change or settings.Tidal uses mqa files, how will d50 handle them?
Hi everyone.
the differences with the D10? The D10 topping costs 70/75 euros instead the D50 costs 200 euros.
Is it recommended to pay 130/125 euros more to upgrade the D10?
Do the differences between D10 and D50 justify the expense?
the dac will have to be connected to the Atom jds
Personally I did not find the D50 better for its price (I sold it on ebay pretty quickly) but others might think it's worth it. Might be a personal thing too, whether the surplus cash is fully 'worth' minimal gains. Up to youSo I'm interested in D10 vs D50
Hi guys. i am really considering the d50, and i have started reading reviews etc everywhere on the internet. so, id like to ask some questions to the owners.
first of all would you call it neutral? in a good sense? or is it sounding a bit "dead"? i love neutrality, but there is a fine line between being neutral and lifeless...
I accidentally plug 12v into D50. It can no turn on anymore. Does D50 have a fuse inside it?
Ouch, sorry for your loss.I accidentally plug 12v into D50. It can no turn on anymore. Does D50 have a fuse inside it?
I'm afraid the despite turning the D50 off or let it switch off by the abscense of signal will let the D50 in Stand By mode so it will draw current from the powerbank. Fortunately there are powerbank with a switch off button like the EC Technology I use.Dear colleagues, if you power the d50 from the usual 5v powerbank for mobile devices, provided it is turned off automatically in the absence of an input signal, will the powerbank continue to discharge in standby d50 mode? Or will the discharge also be zero?
