Did Darko allow you to copy/paste his interview from Putzeys in your video?
Professional courtesy. Wouldn't you appreciate it if someone asked before copying some of your content? Darko makes a living from being a vlogger and podcaster, and has posted about how much work goes into his productions. Also, 1 min 40 sec is really quite a long excerpt. YouTube would surely take it down if Darko requested.Fair use (only 1 min 40 sec was used from a 21 min video).
I’m also curious if the increased power capability have had detrimental effects on the general performance in normal listening levels, or if it has remained the same/improved.Is there any word out there on Amps using the new 7040 module? - Apparently it might be capable down to 2ohm - are there any measurements anywhere?
Interested as well!@boXem | audio and @Apollon Audio would you please share some previews too?
Interesting - the less expensive Pure series amplifiers use the 3.6KW Hypex power supplies. These power supplies are best suited for bridged amplifiers since they do not have 2 quadrant operation.Apollon now has listings for amplifiers on their site, but no indication of availability:
PET 900 Monoblock (1x 1ET7040SA, 1x SMPS1200A700, Weiss OP2-BP Op Amp) €2495+VAT; or €2345 with SI990
PET 900 Stereo (2x 1ET7040SA, 2x SMPS1200A700, Weiss OP2-BP Op Amps) €4490+VAT; or €4190 with SI990
Pure 3-5 (3-5x 1ET7040SA, 1x SMPS3KA400, OPA1612 Op Amps) €3090+VAT upwards
Pure 6-12 (6-12x 1ET7040SA, 2x SMPS3KA400, OPA1612 Op Amps) €4990+VAT upwards
(Something's not quite right there - presumably they should all be A400 or A700 power supplies?)
No equivalent of the 1ET400A Mini shown though (cheaper 2-channel in the Pure 3-12 style with OPA1612).
Having just received a 1ET400A Pure 5, I'm pleased to see there is an even more ridiculous Apollon product. I feel less extravagant now.
I believe the specs in terms of noise/distortion actually rise (get worse), albeit marginally.I did read through this thread, but I still have a stupid question: Beyond the power/ohm changes from the 400ET- are there any other design/hardware improvements we know of?
Designs look very close. The most noticeable thing is a new modulator board with higher complexity. I was told it was to accommodate higher power modules (bridged?).I did read through this thread, but I still have a stupid question: Beyond the power/ohm changes from the 400ET- are there any other design/hardware improvements we know of?
March Audio are showing 1ET7040SA monoblock amps with delivery early April along with a new reduced power Purifi stereo amp.
P501 Mono-Block Power Amplifier - March Audio
The P501 is a Purifi 1ET7040SA based mono-block amplifier. This simply elegant product is milled from solid aluminium with a tough anodized treatment. Exceptional fit, finish and build quality. Class leading technical and subjective audio performance.www.marchaudio.com
i had a chat w/ their support team yesterday about my PNC1200 Stereo amp shipping delay. Hypex hasn't sent them the amps so the delay in setup/ship. Interestingly, during the chat, the agent mentioned if i wanted to switch the PNC1200 w/ the 1ET7040SA purifi modules as they could ship it asap.Interesting - the less expensive Pure series amplifiers use the 3.6KW Hypex power supplies. These power supplies are best suited for bridged amplifiers since they do not have 2 quadrant operation.
Workarounds would have the 2 channels of a stereo amplifier amplifier working with one channel running in opposite polarity to the other (Not sure how this works with an odd number of channels though)
EDIT: also concerned that one Hypex psu might not be capable of powering 5 amplifiers driving 2 Ohm loads? A major reason to buy the 1ET7070SA in preference to the 1ET400 is, after all, its ability to drive exceptionally low impedances.
