Woofer phase and speaker position

I have the rear-ported Revel M16s. In order to avoid phase issues in the bass created by peaks and nulls in the room, is it better A) to have the speakers the same distance from the wall behind them, or B) to have the speakers the same distance from the listening position. It is not possible in my irregular room to do both. Thank you.

I would endeavor to put the speakers equidistant from the listening position to maintain a proper stereo image and response of the higher frequencies

Black, at the center of the couch and equidistant from the speakers.
Blue, at one end of the couch, so one speaker is closer than the other,.

The difference in distance to the speakers is 1100fps/1.7ms = 1.54 feet (roughly).

Phase response:
Black - equidistant
Red and Blue - ends of the couch, making the 1.5 foot distance difference
