Kinda late but the final product doesn't have any issue anymore? (ch. imbalance? etc2).
Also what's the -9/0/9db setting? Is that for the volume gain for sensitive IEMs?
Also what about the light colour? Black has red light volpot? Silver has blue?

Differences are:
ES9038 Q2M VS AK4493
ability to change digital filters
ability to change volume
ability to turn off
a remote that chages volume, filters, turning on/off
USB powered (d10s) vs external powered(e30)
D10s can output digital spdif signal
Appearance that matches L30.
E30 is slightly smaller in size.

Measured performance are similar. E30 has less noise, D10s has less harmonic distortion.

Thanks for the list. I literally dont need anything E30 has over D10s. The only difference might be DAC chip performance, which again might not be audible at all.

The looks dont matter neither as I would hide the DAC under my desk to reduce the clutter.

Not really. I thought about it. But the compromises and performance don't make sense.

ES9038 is flagship chip if i'm not mistaken. I guess ESS chips way cheaper than AKM chips. Still AKM is used much more than ESS in dacs i don't know why.

9038Pro is. 9038Q2M is a smaller, 'mobile' version of it. (still a very good chip of course!)

9038q2m is more expensive than ak4493. And 9038q2m is not the flagship but 9038pro.
