What lenses are you currently using?

I have a bunch of AF-S lenses and one AF-P 70-300. Also I have a Tamron 100-400. These go on a D850 mostly and a D800 occasionally. I have no plans to buy a Z mount body at this time although I think the Z8 is awesome. Until recently I used a 24-120 f/4 zoom most of the time but found even when stopped down it was weak in the 60 to 100mm range. Most recently I have switched to using 20mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm primes. All are f/1.8 except for the 50mm which is f/1.4. I also use the AF-P 70-300 frequently. Lots of photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/texas_photographer/

Most recently got myself a FUJINON XF16-80mmF4 R OIS WR. I haven't taken a lot of pictures yet, but so far looks very good.

Versus my two other "prime zoom" Fujinon lenses, viz. XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS and XC15-45mmF3.5-5.6 OIS PZ, it is decidedly larger & heavier. The filter size is a large 72 mm and the lens shade is correspondingly huge in diameter.

The advantage vs. the 18-55mm is that the 16-80mm is a just a little, but usefully, wider at the low end and significantly longer at the high end -- 24-122 mm vs. 27-84 mm equivalent.

Versus the 15-45mm the new lens has a much longer zoom. Also the 16-80mm is moisture-sealed and has an F-stop scale for manual select which the XC lens does not. And as for the XC15-45mm I absolutely hate the unavoidable power zoom feature.

I need to try that lens. I'm running Fujinon 90f2 most times & would be nice to pop that one in when in the mountains etc... 16-80 would cover all my bases for that. F4 is plenty also for that need. I'm off to B & H to check it out. My 90f2 sold me on fijinon ;)

I've been pleased with my results from this 16-80mm lens. I generally use it in preference to my 18-55mm, but the former is significantly larger and heavier than the latter.

Ahh ... when photography and hi-fi intersect our children can see their inheritance evaporating. :D

My Leica CM with its superb 40mm f/2.4 Summarit lens is going up for sale, probably for a lot more than I paid new in 2004. Ebay is a silly place. The really nice vintage Minolta MC & MD glass I painstakingly accumulated was sold to a friend not long ago along with a couple of bodies. The Leica CL body plus Leica M mount Voigtlander 21mm f/4 & 50mm f/2 Heliar Classic collapsible lenses, along with the very nice vintage 90mm f/4 Leica and sundry accessories are packed up with the darkroom gear. I might start shooting film again if I move somewhere more conducive to having a darkroom.

In the meantime I am pretty happy with my Ricoh GR III's 18.3mm f/2.8 lens (28mm equivalent). This snap from the San Diego Zoo is straight out of the camera: high contrast b/w recipe + Hoya IR filter on an aftermarket filter ring/adapter.

(Edit: looks like I grabbed a crop that was next to the original full frame. The sensor and lens in this thing are impressive: I will frame like I have a 135mm and know I can crop like crazy later without losing much, if anything)

That is a very good shot with that Leica !!!! I still have all my MC & MD glass that I collected over the years & even have a few of the Leica collaborated Minolta lens stuff. I don't use them much anymore but only because of laziness to use them with adaptors or with a few Minolta XD-s film rigs I have.

To be clear, the pic is from my Ricoh GR III.

The Leica CM's 40mm produced some of the sharpest images I've ever seen. Velvia 50 was incredible in that little camera.

Been giving this not-so-sharp, and flare-susceptible Leica Summarit 50/1.5 (that I got from BlueMoon camera) a run thru:

Whoo-eeee: Leica, Nagra, Schoeps--and that Sound Devices Mixpre-3 is not terrible either. Here's to the finer things in life.

I have some ambitions for my Rode NT5s & Marantz PMD661 MkIII, you give me hope. :)

I've recently acquired a Sony 70-400 SSM G II for the Alpha mount and combined with the A99 its been a pretty awesome combination. I typically use vintage G lenses but this is next level. The last and best A mount lens they made.

I just picked up a Sony 70-200 F2.8 GM OSS ii but haven’t really had a chance to play with it much yet. I take mostly wildlife photos so I use my 200-600 f5.6 G OSS lens probably more than any others I have. My hope is that the 70-200 w/ teleconverter will work for me to get all that weight off the camera on longer outings.
