With the growth of solar we have a growth of the battery industry. Whole home batteries are falling in price. In the DIY world there are 48V 19" rack batteries in about 100Ah units, 100 pounds, $1500 each.

Usually the DC batteries are charged from the AC utility line, then discharged to the home as AC in power outages, or they are charged from DC solar and discharged as AC to the home or back to the utility grid.

Batteries are inherently load following within limits. Consumer batteries are a no brainer for analog preamps.

Golden ears with disposable income could wire their house with DC specific to their analog power amps. They could charge the batteries, isolate the batteries, then play their amps with pure analog noiseless DC supply goodness. It deflates the nonsensical AC supply conditioner and cable industry.

I predict this will be a business. How the electrical code applies, no idea. But shiny designer battery racks could become a thing in listening equipment show off rooms.

That being said, a DC supply has no benefit for a class-d amp.

I believe some factories run DC for motors etc., so I bet there is a code. It is a snake oil miracle business :D

You'll have to regulate the voltages (youll need 2 for each power amp (and differnt amps might need different voltages) at least 2 for your preamp, 5v for your dac, and maybe 120v AC for your turntable motor) with a switching supply so whats the point? Another solution to a problem that dosnt exist.

That's where the audiophile money is!

Of course! No regulation. Different battery banks for each voltage need! More $$$

DC can be tricky to handle, involving DC-rated circuit breakers and switches, and heavy gauge wiring to minimize voltage drops due to resistance. 120/220 VAC is cheaper and easier.

Batteries are not always the total audio panacea they are expected to be.
