I had this mediabridge ultra subwoofer cable attached to my Aiyima A3001 Sub Amp. I had heard crunching before. The mediabridge had the twisty type of connector that destroys these cheap drop in crap sockets if you're not careful.

Well, I broke the socket trying to remove the cable. So I decided to fix it.
Since these pics, I have reopened the amp, touched up the soldering a bit and moved the return signal leads further away from the positive leads. They weren't touching, but it was a little too close. I realigned the sockets outside for neatness and tightened everything down.

But! Man, I seriously think | have the NOcebo effect. Somehow I thought the amp was quieter. I have to remember I'm using new cables and a lot of A/B
testing is happening this week.

Anyway.. Fixed! Happy...

Enjoy your long weekend!

Those turbo/turbine RCA cable connectors are renowned for damaging the RCA connector on components. I've done it, I've repaired oodles of the damaged RCA connectors and I avoid turbine type RCA connectors now.

The solder in this pic looks to be high temp solder. Is it high temp solder? If not high temp solder then it is over heated and needs flux to make a proper connection. As it looks there might not be the best of connections at the solder joints.

Read the post... I went back in after seeing this very pic and fixed all up. It's MG Chemicals lead free solder.
